History of the School
SAINT SAVIOUR’S NURSARY/PRIMARY AND HIGH SCHOOL, IKOTUN, LAGOS, were co-founded by Barr. Vincent Esidogho BUWA (Late) and Beatrice BUWA on …….. September, 1989 and 27th September, 1993 respectively.
The Duo co-founded the Nursery and Primary School Section in September, 1989 in a rented apartment in a building directly opposite lyana-Isher Junction along ljegun Road, Ikotun, Lagos. A year after the school relocated to its permanent site at No. 5/7 Olushola Ade Street, St. Saviour’s Bus stop, ljegun Road, Ikotun, Lagos.
Four years later the High School was also co-founded by the Duo on the 27″ September, 1993 which co-existed with the Nursery and Primary School portioning a section of it to accommodate the High School.
Two years later, by sheer commitment and hard-work the High School was moved to its permanent site at
Nos 1 – 7 Agbaje Street Off Alagbada Bus Stop, ljegun Road, Ikotun, Lagos, Nigeria. The Headmaster of the Nursery and Primary School was, Mr. Grant, Mrs. Olasheni (Late) taught French.
Mr. Twi. a Ghanaian, and Mr. Odubunmi who taught Economics were the pioneer teachers. Mr. Twi was then designated Vice-Principal at inception u the new school – High School. At the time the High School took off there were twenty-eight Learners namely:

In the 1994/95 academic session, precisely the Second Term h. school applied for Full Scale Inspection for Recognition to the Lagos State Ministry of Education. Before this tine but within the 1994/1995 the school had been arranged into two Departments such as ART and SCIENCE. Messrs G, N, Iheaka and J. A. Famakinwa had been appointed Heads of Department for Science and Art respectively. The Head of Department of Science was assigned to carry out Administrative duties while the Head of Department of Art was assigned to carry out Academic duties. It later grew to seven Departments such as English Department; Other Languages Department comprising Igbo, Yoruba and French: Science Department; Art Department, Technology Department; Vocational & Commercial Department; and Mathematics Department.
During this period another significant event that took place was the inauguration of the School’s Parent/Teacher’s Association held on Saturday 25th January, 1995. In preparation for the Full-Scale Inspection for recognition of the school an important seminar to build the capacities of the teaching staff was scheduled and held on the 24″ January, 1995 facilitated by Education Consultants with vast experience in School Administration and Inspection.
During this second term in view Messrs J. A. Akinleye and J.O. Aroyame resigned their appointments with the school while Messrs A. E. Adelaja (B.Sc. Mathematics) and J. A. Akinyemi (B.Sc. Statistics) were appointed to teach Mathematics in JS ONE and JS TWO respectively.
Still in preparation for the Full-Scale Inspection for recognition the school had on the 10th January, 1995 appointed Mr. J. A. Agboro Principal St. Saviour $ High School with effect from 1st January, 1995. Similarly, Mr. G. N. Iheaka was appointed Vice-Principal in acting capacity to assist the Principal during and after the Inspection exercise and later officially confirmed Vice-Principal on the 2nd October, 1995.
Shortly after these preparatory and administrative adjustments a full-scale Administration and Subject Recognition Inspections were precisely held or the 13″ February, 1995. The Team Leader of the Inspectors was Mrs. E. O. Joseph, Ministry of Education Inspectorate Department, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
However, the school was successful after the rigorous Full-scale Inspections of matching subject-Inspectors with Subject-Teachers observing them teach in classrooms and inspecting their Statutory Record Books. This was confirmed

The school is permanently sited at Nos. 1- 7 Agbaje Street, Alagbada Bus stop. off ljegun Road on the 27th September, 1995. On this date all the students JS 1 – 3 and teachers alike moved to the school’s permanent site.
The underlisted were appointed to the positions of Heads of Department:
- Mr.Collins, F. A. (HOD – English Language).
- Adeyeye, T.R. (HOD – Technology).
- Lafemiwa Bose (HOD – Vocation/Commercial)
- Adelaja, A. E.(HOD – Mathematics).
- Yakubu, O.Y .M. (HOD – Art).
In addition to being appointed Head of Department Mr. Yakubu, O.Y.M. was appointed Officer in charge of Academics in the Junior School, while Mr. T.R. Adeyeye was appointed officer in charge of Time Table.
By the 1998/1999 session the school had been organized into FIVE Houses.
The Houses were:
- The SCHOOL HOUSE (BLUE)
- The COMMUNITY HOUSE (ORANGE)
- The UNITY HOUSE (YELLOW)
- The INDEPENDENCE HOUSE (RED)
- The NATIONAL HOUSE (GREEN)
The first Annual Inter house Sports Competition in the school was held on the 5th April, 2000 and was chaired by the P.T.A. Chairman Mr. G.E. Ajayi.

SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL FULL SCALE INSPECTION FOR RECOGNITION
On the 20th November, 1997 the school hosted a Team of Inspection from the Lagos State Ministry of Education Inspectorate Division. The inspection was carried out in the following subject areas: English Language, Mathematics.
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Yoruba, Literature-In-English, French, CRK, IRK, Economics, Further Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Clothing & Textile, Commerce, Book-keeping, History, Government, Fine Art, Music, Short-hand, Typewriting and Technical Drawing.
- SAVIOUR’S NUR/PRY AND HIGH SCHOOL, EGAN, ALIMOSHO LGA, LAGOS
In the year 2006 ST. SAVIOUR’S NUR/PRY and HIGH SCHOOLS were similarly co-founded by Barr. Vincent Esidogho Buwa and Mrs. Beatrice Buwa. The school applied for inspection and recognition of the schools in the year 2011/2012. Since then the school has recorded tremendous improvement in leaps and bounds till date.
